St. Sebastian Growing in Faith Capital Campaign
The last major investment in the St. Sebastian campus was completed in 2007 with dedication of the current church. Since then, St. Sebastian had grown from about 400 families to more than 700. With growth stressing existing parish facilities and challenging the effectiveness of so many vital areas of parish life, a Master Facility Plan to address the present and future growth of the parish and surrounding communities was created.
A thoughtful and realistic four-phase Master Facility Plan emerged. The Plan included church sanctuary space expansion, a new ministry center, a new family center and church seating expansion.
It was the hope and prayer of church leadership to fund the majority of the needed capital for the proposed project through a capital stewardship campaign, to minimize debt mortgage costs. The capital stewardship campaign required a commitment from all parishioners, payable over a multi-year period (typically 3 years).
St. Sebastian leadership hired The Breton Group to conduct a feasibility study to assess the parish community’s understanding of the project needs and evaluate financial and volunteer support. After thorough analysis and careful consideration of all favorable and unfavorable factors/findings identified during the feasibility study process, The Breton Group Consultants recommended adjustments to the project and campaign goal. After making the recommended adjustments, St. Sebastian was ready to kick-off a successful capital stewardship campaign!
The Breton Group Consultants partnered with St. Sebastian leadership, establishing a customized campaign timeline, forming, guiding and meeting regularly with volunteer leadership teams, assisting in the development and distribution of campaign materials and providing donor cultivation counsel.
By working together and standing behind the project as a faith community, St. Sebastian Parish raised funds over and above their $2 million campaign goal!
By listening and responding to the voice of the parish family, making necessary project adjustments based on the feasibility study, and telling their story in a compelling and effective way, St. Sebastian Parish is able to enhance their ministries and better serve their faith family by moving forward with their plans to expand the church sanctuary, build a new ministry center, build a new family center and expand church seating.
